Farmstay is all about meeting Australians, great country home cooked meals, and the great Australian country experience.
All meals (full board) dinner, breakfast (and lunch when two or more nights consecutive nights are booked) An introductory farm tour or inspection with host or farmer The opportunity to watch at close quarters a variety of farm activities (which do vary from region to region and season to season). Participation with working farm activities (please note that on some farms it is not always possible to accompany the farmer throughout the day or to participate with working farm activities)
Some properties offer bed and breakfast only and self catering facilities are available at selected properties.
Farmstay accommodation is available in the main Homestead (family home) or in seperate cottages located close to main family homestead.
Farmstays do offer family rooms or adjoining rooms may also be available.
Family friendly farms offering a wide range of activities vary from property to property depending on the location and the type of farm.
Some farms offer hands on experiences, whilst many others offer the opportunity to get up close and personal with the farm animals, learn how food is produced.
Family accommodation (when supplied) may consist of two adjoining rooms.
At most farmstays children under 5yrs and infants are Free of Charge, however some farms do charge for meals and the use of a cot.
Children ages: Infant - 0 to 2 years inclusive Children - 5 to 15 years inclusive.
Working farmstays do not (always) offer a timetable or schedule of activities, feeding of farm animals including chickens, working dogs and horses may take place in the mornings or afternoons. Collecting eggs may occur only in the mornings and afternoons.
Farm activities conducted by the farmer or grazier such as checking stock, water holes and fences are usually conducted in the cool of the day in early mornings and afternoons.
Feeding poddy calves and baby lambs seperated from their mothers may occur during the day.
